The Lou Rawls Center replaced the Matthew W. Gilbert Auditorium, a 390-seat theatre with limited capabilities. The new theatre, has 450-seats with excellent sightlines and a warm intimate interior. Backstage is a full fly tower with an array of manual counterweight linesets as well a dedicated motorized rigging for the orchestra shell ceiling. State of the art dimming and lighting controls were provided as well as a full complement of back-of-house accommodations including dressing rooms, wardrobe and prop shops and technical offices. A studio theatre is planned for a later phase. Alec was project manager and theatre consultant for this project while at FDA. Acoustics consulting services for this project were led by Damian while President of Artec.
