Washington DC

Completion Date: 2005
This little 100-seat theatre is located at the Sitar Center, an after school program that "gives underserved children and youth the opportunity to explore and study the visual and performing arts in an afternoon safe haven". With its 21' wide X 12' deep stage, and minimal stage equipment it provides a very safe and supportive environment where young and inexperienced performers can feel supported by the audience rather than separated from them. The Sitar Center and its director Rhonda Buckley has received numerous awards for their youth programs in the arts including the 2009 Coming Up Taller award which was presented by Michelle Obama for the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Alec provided the theatre consulting for this project while at FDA.
