The City of Miramar's new town center master plan called for a new 800-seat theatre to go with a new city hall, public library and a large commercial development. Cartaya and Associates were hired to design all of the public buildings including the theatre and they looked to Alec, then at FDA to assist them. The resulting 800-seat, proscenium theatre has a single balcony and side technical boxes that draw the audience's eye toward the stage and increase the hall's intimacy. The full fly tower, state-of-the-art technical systems and well-appointed backstage make this building an excellent venue for both community events and both local and touring professional groups. The building is operated by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
