CBST Synagogue
New York, NY
Architect: Architecture Research Office
Completion Date: 2014
Alec was contacted by Architecture Research Office in New York City to help design this new home for Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in a historic circa 1928 building designed by Cass Gilbert. The 299-seat synagogue includes curved wood seating that surrounds the central arc and stage, with a mezzanine for additional seating. This space serves multiple functions to accommodate the congregation's events including services, classes and special events. The seating can be removed on the lower level to host banquet receptions.
