PROJECT DETAIL
The Tivoli Theatre is a historic, Beaux Arts style theatre designed by architect R.H. Hunt that opened in 1921. The theatre has 1,750 seats, with two balconies. It is home to a Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ 235 Special, which is still playing nearly a century after its installation. The Tivoli hosts a variety of events including touring Broadway, rock concerts, dance, and comedy events. In 2019, Stages’ scope during this Master Planning study included facilitating workshop sessions with the Tivoli’s staff to determine goals and needs for improvement, and to provide recommendations for phased renovations, modernization, and expansion of the facility. In 2021, we began upgrades and renovations to the Tivoli’s back of house, stage, auditorium, and front of house, as well as expansion into the neighboring Tivoli Center, which will include a new multi-use theatre.
