Damian served as acoustics consultant for the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, FL, since 2007. Phase II construction included Steinmetz Hall (1,700 seats), a multiform theatre that transforms from a concert hall to a proscenium theater, changing its shape, seating and sound environment in just minutes. A million-pound orchestral shell glides along tracks to shift the space from a 1,500-seat proscenium theater into a 1,700-seat concert hall. The development also included a public performance plaza and dedicated education and classroom spaces for outreach to over 200,000 students in the greater Orlando area. Stages led the acoustics design team, working with Quietly Making Noise, Wilson Ihrig Associates and Acme Professional. This greatly anticipated addition to the Dr. Phillips Center opened in January 2022.

“The entire venue is built on a foundation of over 400 rubber-and-steel isolation pads—the same material used in suspension bridges—creating a physical and acoustic gap from the outside world. The result is an N1 sound rating, the lowest level of detectable sound, allowing performers to shine without amplification.”
