PROJECT DETAIL
The Moss Theatre is not typical of your average high school. The 350-seat thrust theatre has excellent sightlines, and an extremely intimate feel. No seat is more than 35 feet from the stage and the vast majority are within 25 feet. In the interest of safety since the theatre is crewed mostly by students, a wire rope grid is provided over the thrust. Upstage is a full fly tower with counterweight rigging and an acoustic barrier that can separate the stagehouse from the thrust area. This wall serves as the orchestra shell when music groups are assembled on the thrust and also allows a class to take place onstage while another occurs in the hall. Alec, while at FDA, served as project manager and theatre consultant through construction administration.
