Stages and H3 Hardy Collaborative studied the renovation or replacement of this theatre, located in a renovated historic YMCA building. Meetings were held with the technical staff and artistic leadership to discuss the goals of the current user groups in order to evaluate the existing facility's ability to support the Playhouse's future needs. The team developed three renovation plans and a replacement plan. The George Street Playhouse has since been razed to make room for the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, which opened in 2019.
