PROJECT DETAIL
The Post Theatre was built 1933 to entertain the troops stationed at the former military base, Fort Hancock in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. In 1974, the fort was decommissioned and taken over by the National Park Service. By 2000, The Sandy Hook Foundation reopened the 390-seat proscenium theatre as a community arts center. Unfortunately, the fort and its structures were besieged during Hurricane Sandy and the theatre was left flooded and unusable. Stages, along with Mills + Schnoering Architects, studied the restoration of the theater and developed a Design/Build RFP to return it to its pre-hurricane condition.
